Another Training Limerick! MS Training Ride Sat, May 16. Free Lunch Courtesy of NMSS!!

May 15th, 2009

Look Out For That Bus!

Look Out For That Bus!

To get a free lunch now-a-days is quite easy…
Just ride a bike and the NMSS will appease me.
If I show up this Saturday,
I’ll get a free sandwich from Subway.
Mmmmm…please make mine a turkey, ham, and cheesey.

We’ll offer the same routes as we did last week
To work on our long-distance riding technique.
Options of 50 and 75 miles,
NOT on a pace for time trials
Lest my legs let out a long and loud shriek!

As usual we’ll TRY to roll wheels at EIGHT.
And as usual we’ll probably start off a bit late.
We’ll meet in Windsor at #5 Griffin,
With good weather says my intuition.
And now I must stop cuz 1:15 am is quite late.

75 on 5/9

The Evan Essence!

The Evan Essence!

Only FOUR weeks left…NOT plenty of time!
That’s why this Saturday we’re gonna ride 75.

8am is when our wheels will roll.
Finishing strong and happy will be our goal.

We’re not treating this like some kind of race…
We’ll set a comfy 16-17 mph pace.

Since that’s 4½ – 5 hours in the saddle,
Bring plenty of food to fight the hunger battle.

There are also some places we can stop along the way
Where you can buy your Clif Bars and Gatorade.

We’ll start our trek this time from #5 Griffin.
Kindly send an email to let me know if you’re in.

NOTHING BUT BLUE SKY!!!!

May 3rd, 2009

Nothing But Blue Sky

Nothing But Blue Sky

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I can see it actually never came.
Shouldn’t have cancelled today’s Training Ride.
It’s gonna be the weathermen, weathermen, weathermen, weathermen I’ll blame.
It’s gonna be the weathermen, weathermen, weathermen, weathermen I’ll blame.

Oh great I now have to go bike on Sunday.
All of these bad feelings cuz I didn’t go today.
Nowhere is the rainbow cuz there ain’t no rain.
It’s gonna be the weathermen, weathermen, weathermen, weathermen I’ll blame.

Look all around…there’s nothing but blue sky.
Look straight ahead, there’s a weatherman…let’s go make him cryyyyyyyyy.

I can see you weatherman, you’re hiding there.
I don’t want to hurt you, I just want to make you feel shame.
Where is that RAIN that made me cancel my ride?!
It’s gonna be YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU that I blame!
It’s gonna be the weathermen, weathermen, weathermen, weathermen I’ll blame.

It’s Pouring, It’s Raining

May 2nd, 2009

DARN you weather!! I stick my tongue out at you!

DARN you weather!! I stick my tongue out at you!

It’s pouring, it’s raining.
There’ll be NO MS Training.
This you’ve read,
Now go back to bed.
No 50 miles of paining.
Rain, rain, if you’ve gone away,
We’ll bike tomorrow, that’s SUNDAY.

A Training Limerick

April 30th, 2009

Warm up your legs and grease up your chainring
Cuz this Saturday we do 50 Miles of training.
On my website you’ll see
If we switch to Plan B,
Which is to ride on Sunday in case it be raining.

There’s something I haven’t yet mentioned.
It’s very important so please pay attention!
There’s a slight alteration…
We’ll add a new starting location
To bike the East-of-the-River dimension.

As usual we’ll roll wheels at EIGHT.
Or a couple minutes after…we’ll wait.
We’ll meet at Brooks Pharmacy
Directions are below you’ll see.
And now I must stop cuz 1:30 am is quite late.

Thanks for the memories, and for the FREE LUNCH!!

Kids, DON'T try taking a picture like this at home!

Kids, DON'T try taking a picture like this at home!

Beautiful sunny warm weather, a scenic not-too-hilly 50-Mile route, and a free lunch provided by the National MS Society all made for a great turnout on 4/25.

It's not easy to take this kind of picture!

It's not easy to take this kind of picture!

Finally we’re gonna have some sunny warm days!
Nothing better than biking and catching some rays.
Well, I guess it’s better if you also get a free lunch,
Which is what you’ll get if you join the MS Training Bunch.

This Saturday morning if you show up at EIGHT
The NMSS folks will make you a deal that’s great.
They’ll provide us lunch without any hitches
And will take our orders for Subway sandwiches!

Let’s ROLL at 8:00!  #5 Griffin Center, Windsor.
Offering 10, 25, 10+25, and 50 Miles!
The 8:00 group riding 50 miles will pace around 15-16mph.
A second group riding 50 miles will roll out SUNDAY, 4/26, offering a pace of 14-15mph. Please email MaagWheels@cox.net for more info.

BEST Weather Yet!!

April 18th, 2009
Keith, Angela, and Eric

Keith, Angela, and Eric

Get your gears ready, get them all shifty,
Cuz this Saturday we’re riding FIFTY.
No weather excuse…skies will be great.
Meet you at Griffin, wheels rolling at EIGHT!

Our April 18 ride was the BEST ever! Weather was perfect, riders were pumped, and 50 miles seemed like a breeze! And we actually rode like a group, staying together almost the whole time. Hopefully we can repeat next week.

Nature Call

Nature Call

This is where some of the men, and a few ladies too, answered a call of nature (not at the same time, of course).

It wasn’t THAT wet!

April 11th, 2009

See? NO RAIN!

See? NO RAIN!

Okay, so where was everybody?! It was only Kimiko, her friend Danae, and myself who showed up to ride 4/11. I told you guys it wasn’t gonna rain while we were biking! The worst part of the trip was getting covered with all the earth worms littering the streets…on our legs, our handlebars, our shoes, our water bottles…nasty! Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go scrape some worm guts off the downtube of my bike!

Winter will NEVER end this year!

No, it's not Darth Biker...it's a very cold Fernando!

No, it's not Darth Biker...it's a very cold Fernando!

Okay, I was supposed to go out biking tonight with the Bicycles East Tuesday ride crew, but I was too cold and too wimpy. It’s probably because I’m still thawing out from riding this past Sunday in 40 degree weather with 22 mph winds!

Looks like I’ll have to pay tomorrow for not riding tonight…I’ll drag the kids around town in the bike trailer, although it drives me crazy when they ask, “Dad? Daddy? Ummm…are we going uphill right now? Because you’re going really slow.”
